Introduction of the Yu’s Prescription of Bowel Health+

The treatment of gastrointestinal system diseases was one of the principal post-graduate research projects of Dr. Yu. Chronic digestive diseases are the main causes that could lead to the diseased in other parts of the body, for example, if you have chronic diarrhea for many years, the absorption of many substances would not be enough to meet the supplement of enough nutritions, of course, the absorption of calcium is also not enough, and in the long run, the absorption of calcium for long bones would be inadequate, and then osteoporosis might slowly occur within your body; similarly for other organs that would not recieve adequate nutrition and various symptoms would show, such as fatigue, yawning, body weight loss or puffiness, decreased immunity and so on.

Shen qin Bai Shu San is a well-known gastrointestinal regulation agent, it originated in the Song Dynasty in China in around 1100 AD, Dr. Cunhai Yu made some improvement based on his experiences and the physical condition and diet of western people and formed a unique prescription.

The new prescription not only maintains the original features of Shen qin Bai Shu San, but also has the efficacies of stress relieving, sleep promotion and immunity improvement.

Pharmacological Researches of Shen qin Bai Shu San:
It mainly has the efficacies of gastrointestinal motility regulation, metabolism promotion and immunity improvement.

  1. Regulation of gastrointestinal motility: a low dose of this decoction has stimulating effects on the intestines and could relive the inhibition of epinephrine on the intestines; high doses could inhibit the contraction of intestines, and could antagonize the barium chloride and pilocarpine induced intestinal contraction, enhance the absorption of water and chloride ions of intestines.
  2. Promotion of metabolism: this prescription could be used in intestinal diseases with spleen qi deficiency (chronic gastritis, chronic colitis, gastric or duodenal ulcer), the urinary creatinine, uric acid and blood urea nitrogen were significantly lower than normal before treatment, and the indexes increased significantly after treatment.
  3. The improvement of the patient’s immune function and blood rheology indicators.
